At Primal, beginners learn the right mechanics from day one and experienced boxers get the rounds, correction and pressure they need to sharpen their game. We build from stance and footwork into defense, angles, combinations, counterpunching, bag work, mitt work, partner drills and controlled sparring.
You do not have to be a fighter to train like one. Come for the skill, the conditioning, the confidence or the competition path. The standard stays the same: clean technique, hard work and coaching that makes you better.

This is not daycare. It is not karate theater. It is not a kids fitness class pretending to teach fighting. Youth USA Boxing at Primal gives kids and teens real boxing training, real coaching, real structure, and a real place to grow.
We teach stance, footwork, balance, defense, combinations, bag work, mitt work, conditioning, partner drills and the habits that make young athletes harder to break. Every round is built to sharpen focus, discipline, confidence, body control and toughness the right way.
Some kids come in shy. Some come in wild. Some come in needing confidence, direction or a serious challenge. We meet them where they are and push them forward with standards, accountability and coaching that demands effort while building belief.
This is not cardio kickboxing. It is not point-fighting. It is not choreography. Primal Kickboxing is real striking training built around clean boxing, hard kicks, intelligent movement, defense, timing and combinations that hold up when the pace gets ugly.
We build the complete striker from the floor up: stance, balance, range, footwork, punches, low kicks, body kicks, head kicks, defensive reactions, checks, counters, angles, entries and exits. You learn how to connect techniques together instead of throwing isolated moves at air.
Bag work builds power. Mitt and pad work sharpen accuracy and timing. Partner drills teach distance and reaction. Controlled sparring develops composure, decision-making and the ability to stay technical under pressure. The conditioning comes with the work — but the goal is skill.
Live Ring Work
Competition Team
This is not cardio kickboxing with Thai pads. This is Muay Thai — a complete striking system built around punches, kicks, knees, elbows, clinch fighting, balance disruption, pressure and the ability to stay dangerous when the fight gets messy.
At Primal, Muay Thai training is built for people who want real striking skill. You will work stance, movement, combinations, pad rounds, bag work, timing, defense, counters, conditioning and the kind of clinch work that changes the pace and shape of a fight.
Muay Thai has its own rhythm and its own brutality. It teaches you how to strike from long range, punish the body, frame and control in the clinch, stay composed under pressure and keep attacking with purpose when fatigue hits.
Train here. Test it for real. For members who want to compete, Primal provides a path from technical training and controlled sparring to real events, real opponents and real experience.

This is not a treadmill class, dance workout or cookie-cutter boot camp. Warrior Fit is functional strength and conditioning built to make you stronger, faster, more explosive, better conditioned and harder to break.
Every session attacks the whole athlete. We combine loaded strength work, kettlebells, carries, sleds, ropes, explosive drills, bodyweight training, bag work, core training and conditioning circuits that force you to keep producing when fatigue shows up.
The goal is simple: build a body that can perform. More usable strength. Better work capacity. Better movement. More confidence under pressure. You do not have to be a fighter — but you will train with the mentality of one.

This is not machine-based fitness. It is not fluff. Convict Conditioning is stripped-down, hard training built around bodyweight strength, functional movement, control, joint integrity, endurance and the kind of grit that comes from doing the work with nowhere to hide.
At Primal, Convict Conditioning focuses on old-school progression: push, pull, squat, hinge, brace, balance, crawl, carry and hold. We build strength through leverage, range of motion, tension, repetition and relentless consistency — not by leaning on fancy equipment.
It is simple, brutal and effective. You learn how to own your body, build work capacity, strengthen connective tissue and become more durable from the ground up. The goal is not to look busy. The goal is to get harder to break.
CQC at Primal is built for the chaos that does not look like sport. This is where Jeet Kune Do, catch wrestling, MMA, jiu-jitsu, dirty boxing, Kali weapons, self defense and self protection come together into one pressure-tested program focused on survival, control and functional violence.
This class is about what actually matters when distance collapses and things get ugly. We cover first contact, striking, clinch fighting, dirty boxing, trapping, takedowns, control, escapes, standing grappling, ground survival, edge-weapon awareness and how to fight through bad positions under pressure.
We are not teaching fantasy techniques for perfect conditions. We teach awareness, timing, positioning, simple tools that work under stress and the mindset to solve problems fast. Whether the problem is a punch, a grab, a clinch, a takedown attempt or a weapon threat, the goal is the same: protect yourself, dominate the moment and get home.
Sometimes group classes are not enough. Personal Training at Primal gives you focused, one-on-one coaching built around exactly what you want to improve — faster.
Every session is customized. You are not following a generic workout or waiting for the room to catch up. Your coach can break down technique, correct mistakes in real time, build a training plan around your schedule and spend the entire session focused on your progress.
Private training can be built around boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, CQC and self-protection, strength and conditioning, competition preparation, fundamentals, or a combination of disciplines. Whether you are brand new, preparing to fight, getting back into shape or trying to break through a plateau, the work is built around you.

Perfect for people who want more coaching, faster feedback, flexible scheduling, focused skill development or a completely customized training experience.
Morning, midday and evening training across boxing, youth boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Warrior Fit, Convict Conditioning, hybrid combat training, combatives and open gym.
You do not need to figure out the perfect program before you walk in. Start with the free trial and we will help you find the right classes.

TWO DAYS. FIVE INSTRUCTORS. ONE COMPLETE COMBAT EXPERIENCE.
Two days of hard, functional, pressure-tested training designed to make you a more complete fighter for self-protection and self-defense. Instructors from the USA, Belgium, Wales and beyond bring different specialties, experience and approaches to the fight — all connected into one complete combat experience.
The camp follows the problem from before violence begins through the moment you get clear. We connect awareness, interception, striking, clinch, takedowns, ground survival, weapons and escape instead of treating them like separate worlds.

Primal is more than where you train. Rep the gym outside the ring with official Primal Jym apparel, training gear and branded merchandise.
Our online shop is powered by Spreadshop. That means we do not need to build a second checkout system into the Primal site. Members can hit one button, jump directly to the Primal shop and purchase through the Spreadshop storefront.
Every Shop button opens the official Primal merchandise store in a new tab.
Primal Jym was created to be a better kind of gym — more coaching, more real training, more ways to develop, and less of the fluff that gets in the way of results.
We wanted one place where a complete beginner could walk through the door, a serious fighter could prepare to compete, a parent could trust the youth program, and an adult could get stronger, learn real skills and become more capable.
That is why Primal is not built around one style. Our training brings together boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, conditioning, Jeet Kune Do, grappling, MMA, dirty boxing, weapons training and real-world self-protection — each taught for a purpose, not just because it looks good on a schedule.
Primal's approach has been shaped through years of training, teaching, studying and fighting around the world. We take what works, pressure-test it, keep learning and bring that experience back to the people who train here.
That reach continues through Primal Europe, giving the Primal family an international connection to coaches, instructors, methods and perspectives beyond one gym or one country. The goal is simple: keep evolving and give our members better training.
Whether your goal is competition, fitness, confidence, self-protection or simply becoming stronger and harder to break, you do not have to fit a mold to belong here. You show up. We coach you. You do the work. You get better.
Come in. Meet the team. Try the training. Decide for yourself whether Primal feels different.

One family. Two continents. Same standard.
Led by Head Instructor Dieter Casier, Primal Belgium carries the Primal philosophy into Europe through Reality Fighting — practical, pressure-tested training built around skill, conditioning, adaptability and real-world application.
Primal Belgium brings together CQC / Close Quarter Combatives, Fitbox, Kickboxing, Grappling and Kali, giving students a broad training base without being trapped inside a single style. The connection between Primal USA and Primal Belgium is more than a name or a logo: it is an ongoing exchange of instructors, ideas, training methods and experience across the Atlantic.
Different countries. Different rooms. The same mission: keep learning, keep evolving and give the people who train with us something real.
Train authentic Chinatown-era Jeet Kune Do through a progressive online curriculum built to preserve the material passed down through Tim Tackett, Bob Bremer and Jim Sewell.
These lessons take students from core structure and fundamentals into the functional tools that define JKD: interception, fast and powerful striking, distance control, trapping, sensitivity work, sparring drills and practical application.
For Primal students—and JKD practitioners anywhere—this is a way to study the material in sequence, train on your own schedule and keep sharpening the details outside the gym.
Primal members consistently talk about the same things: serious coaching, usable skills, a welcoming room, no ego and training that pushes people to become better.
Victor describes Primal as a place where beginners, intermediate students and advanced athletes can all train together without ego — with high-quality coaching and a strong sense of community.
Tino says the boxing and self-protection training gave him practical skills, confidence and a level of fitness that kept him coming back for years.
Mark remembers being welcomed immediately and says the coaching staff gives the same time and attention whether someone is brand new or already experienced.
Jorge highlights the seriousness of the trainers and the range of training available under one roof — from conditioning to striking and martial arts.
Tiffany came in looking for real athletic training and says her first session delivered exactly the hard, physical work she wanted.
Elvis describes the coaching as knowledgeable and friendly, and points to the energy in the gym as one of the things that makes Primal stand out.

Short. Fast. Real.
Primal was built around a simple idea: create a better place to train — one that values real skill, real coaching, hard work and continuous improvement over labels, trends or martial arts politics.
Our approach comes from years spent training, studying, teaching and fighting around the world, learning from different coaches, systems, gyms and fighting cultures. That experience shaped Primal into something deliberately broader than a single style.
We respect tradition, but we are not trapped by it. Boxing can sharpen the hands. Muay Thai can expand the striking range. Wrestling and jiu-jitsu can solve the clinch and ground. Jeet Kune Do can teach interception and adaptability. Conditioning can build the engine. Self-protection training can put all of it into a real-world context.
That same philosophy connects Primal USA and Primal Europe. Ideas travel. Coaches exchange knowledge. Training keeps evolving. The goal is never to collect techniques for the sake of collecting them — it is to make the people who train here more capable.
Real training. Real coaching. Real results. Come see what that feels like when you step on the floor.
Different backgrounds. Different specialties. One standard: real coaching, real training and helping every person who walks through the door get better. On phones, tap any coach photo to view it full-size.

For more than five decades, Jim McCann has lived the fight game from the inside out. He has trained, competed, coached and taught around the world across boxing, kickboxing, NHB, submission fighting, Catch-as-Catch-Can, Jeet Kune Do, Close Quarter Combatives, weapons and real-world self-protection — working with everyone from complete beginners to professional athletes, military personnel and law enforcement.
More important than any title is the thousands of people he has taught, coached and mentored. That includes champions and professional fighters, everyday men and women, and young people — including at-risk youth — who needed structure, confidence, accountability and someone willing to believe in them while demanding more from them.
Jim's teaching is pragmatic, direct and user-friendly. He makes complex material understandable, pressure-tests what matters and adapts the training to the person in front of him. Primal is the result of that philosophy: no politics, no wasted motion — just real training designed to make people stronger, more capable and more confident.

Coach Ron Harris has spent more than four decades building fighters and building people. Over the years, he has trained thousands of kids and adults, working with everyone from complete beginners and everyday people trying to get in shape to top-ranked professional fighters, Olympic champions, Golden Gloves champions and Diamond Gloves champions. His coaching is rooted in real boxing fundamentals, patience, discipline and the belief that every athlete deserves serious attention — whether they are preparing for their first round, chasing a championship or simply trying to become stronger, healthier and more confident. What separates Coach Ron is not just his experience; it is his passion for helping people. He teaches the sport, develops the individual and brings decades of ring knowledge to every session at Primal.

Coach Vicki Perez brings energy, discipline and heart to everything she does. Fitness has been a major part of her life for years, but more than five years ago she found her way into boxing and quickly became much more than a student of the sport. She earned her credentials as an official USA Boxing coach and has grown into a highly influential presence in the New Jersey amateur boxing community. Vicki has worked with everyone from first-time beginners and people chasing better health to top professional boxers, Golden Gloves champions and Diamond Gloves champions. But her greatest impact may be the way she mentors young women — pushing them to become stronger, more confident, more disciplined and more capable than they thought possible. Her passion is contagious, her standards are high and she expects effort from everyone around her. She coaches hard because she cares deeply, and that combination of toughness, encouragement and genuine investment in people is why so many at Primal consider her the heart of the gym.

Competition taught Coach Aidan McCann what it means to keep showing up, keep improving and perform under pressure. An athlete his entire life, Aidan began training in martial arts and boxing at 18 and quickly committed himself to the demands of serious competition. He became a veteran of multiple Golden Gloves and Diamond Gloves championships and was recognized by New Jersey USA Boxing as the NJ Diamond Gloves Most Outstanding Boxer. Today, Aidan brings that competitive mindset to his coaching. He is a USA Boxing coach, an instructor in Close Quarter Combatives and Jeet Kune Do, and a certified fitness instructor. His approach is energetic, demanding and hands-on: meet people where they are, teach them the right way, then challenge them to go farther than they thought they could. Whether he is working with a first-day beginner, an athlete chasing better conditioning or a fighter preparing to compete, Aidan loves bringing people to their limit — and then helping them discover that their limit can move.
Coach Scot Barnett's martial arts journey began in the late 1980s under Shihan Haruto Yamamoto in Judo. He earned his Shodan in 1993 and that same year captured gold at the Trenton, New Jersey Tri-County Tournament in the 60–66 kg division. Yamamoto also introduced Scot to Aikido to temper his competitive spirit with greater control and balance. Scot trained under Shihan Rick Stickles at Aikido Schools of New Jersey in Elizabeth from roughly 1990 through 1996, earning 1st Kyu in 1995 before turning his primary focus toward kickboxing.
From 1994 through 1998, Scot trained Kempo and kickboxing at Eagle Karate, earning a brown belt while competing in seven kickboxing matches and finishing with a 6–1 record. In 2019 he added boxing to his journey and quickly became a serious student of the sweet science. What started as another discipline to study became a major part of his coaching life. He has since worked with hundreds of boxers and become an integral part of the Primal coaching staff.
Scot brings competitive experience, decades of martial arts perspective and a calm, detail-driven approach to the room. He understands both the intensity of competition and the value of fundamentals, composure and continuous learning — qualities he now passes on to the athletes he helps develop at Primal.

Coach AJ Vogel is proof of what can happen when someone commits fully to the process. He began training just five years ago and quickly distinguished himself through work ethic, consistency and a willingness to learn. That drive carried him from dedicated student to competitive boxer, official USA Boxing coach and instructor in Close Quarter Combatives. AJ brings an intensity to Primal that is second to none, but his coaching is about more than simply pushing hard. He knows how to challenge people while still meeting them where they are, helping beginners build confidence, athletes sharpen their skills and competitors prepare to perform under pressure. He expects effort, demands accountability and leads by example. Just as important, AJ never stops learning. He remains a student of the fight game while giving that same energy back to everyone he coaches. Whether someone is stepping into the gym for the first time or trying to reach another level, AJ's goal is the same: find the potential, bring it out and keep raising the standard.
Coach Andy “The Greek” leads Muay Thai training at Primal with a technical, demanding approach built around strong fundamentals, balance, kicks, knees, elbows, clinch work and conditioning. His goal is to give beginners a solid foundation while helping experienced athletes sharpen practical Muay Thai skills under pressure.
